Exclusive Interview : Realities of a Teenage Mom.

Its always easy to give opinions on Teenage Pregnancy but do we ever stop to wonder about how the Teenage Mom's feel? When alot of people have turned their backs on them , their least expectation is to be betrayed by someone who's dna runs through their offspring. This week we were blessed with the opportunity to interview two amazing young women who have undergone different circumstances but yet happen to have a range of similarities.

This is an interview between the Interviewer , Faith Mlotshwa , and the  Interviewees , Georgina Grant and Lesego Tolo.

With Teenage Pregnancy being so popular , what are some of the critics you received from people when you were pregnant?

Lesego : To be honest I didnt care much about what people would say because I knew I wasn't the first nor last to become pregnant at a young age.

Georgina : I recieved a large amount of insults , from people telling me that I'm young , to them expressing just how embarrassed I should be.

Before you told "baby daddy" that you were pregnant , what are the expectations you had before telling him and did he meet those expectations after you told him?

Georgina : I had expected him to be supportive , and he did in fact meet those expectations.

Lesego Tolo : Truth is I had expected him to the bigger person as we did have a conversation highlighting that we're sexually active and not using protection and eventually I might fall pregnant , and his response was that if it were to happen   , I would go and stay with him , and he'd work for us. Honestly I think I was blinded by love. I still sit and wait for a call or text from him checking up on his daughter but nothing. I just never knew I'd have to run this race alone.

Are there certain things that you wished the baby's father Could've helped you with during and after pregnancy. ?

Georgina : I wished he was a present father because after the pregnancy that's where most of his support was needed not just financially but mentally as well.

Lesego : If I had known that he was in a relationship I wouldn't have even bothered him , because I had no knowledge of that , I somewhat expected him to be my shoulder to cry on because I was severely battling with my mental health at that time. After giving birth all I needed was his support , financially because relying on my parents to buy everything does not sit well with me.

Many people don't look in depth when it comes to situations like this , but please briefly explain the effect this whole situation had on your mental health.

Georgina : Mentally it's draining , especially with Academics involved it's really hard to focus when you have alot on your mind and having to be strong for your baby it can really drain alot from you.

Lesego : Among the many insults I recieved , the most shattering was being told that "I'm weak for falling pregnant , family planning is free" , it cut deep because they came from a woman. Immediately after this I fell into depression , hardly ate and I used school as a distraction. Due to this , I was admitted at hospital because my babies fetal movements were slow. I couldn't even be induced , I had to go through an emergency c-section. This was the worst pregnancy because throughout , the insults were playing in my head.

Looking back at everything and at the position you're currently in , do you regret anything.?

Georginga : I have no regrets because I know God's timing is never wrong and I believe there is a reason he made me go through all of this.

Lesego : Yes I regret ever falling inlove with him and I curse the day I met up with him!

It's always easy to look and judge from the outside , but when you sit at discuss such topics , the more you realise that words do go a long way. Lesego and Georgina are two of the many phenomenal women who have faced hiccups in their life , but still , wake up in the morning and go to school.

If you do find yourself in a situation whereby you're raising a child while still in school , please do not lose hope , you might be raising the next president of the country. You might not be able to go back and change what has happened , but now you have the power to design what you want your future to be like. You're a Queen and You're Phenomenal. On behalf BloggingAF , we Stan you!

A special thanks to Georgina Grant and Lesego Tolo for giving insight on their experience and enlightening us on issues that many are not brave enough to voice out. We love you
