The Art Of Acceptance


We often find ourselves in positions where we've lost all hope and we are slowly becoming dependant on motivational talks from other people inorder to keep us going , but what happens when all those people disappear and the only person you have left is you? Can you rely on you , to keep you going?


If you're anything like me , your coping mechanism may be pretending. Pretending to be okay , pretending that all will be well , Pretending you're not hurt or the most popular one , pretending to be strong , truth is , no matter how much you pretend ,at the end of the day , that's not who you are , and that's where Acceptance kicks in. Acceptance puts you in a vulnerable space where you have to be absolutely honest with yourself and realise that you are not anything like what you portray to the world. Here's the tricky part , we often describe Acceptance by comparing it to what we envision to be great instead of using what we actually feel as a point of reference , for example , we say "I'm not strong , I'm not good enough" , instead of saying "I'm tired and worn out , I'm broken , I'm hurt , I'm sad , I'm demotivated..."


So how are you feeling at this current moment? Did you know that its okay to feel all of the above , all at the same time?



When you've accepted yourself as you are , you're making a decision that pretending to be strong is a popular trend that you're not afraid to miss. You've now entered into a zone where you are not afraid of being criticised by others and breaking down over other peoples opinions. You are okay with not being okay , and that too is okay.


Well Acceptance is just the bus stop , refill your bus tags , because the real journey begins when you step into the bus (#steppingintothebetteryou).


While awaiting Part 2 of this piece , here's a little task :

1. Identify what put you in the position you're in. (Work , family , friends , school , relationship , etc)

2. Identify whether or not you'll need to be away from them while you step into your greater self.

3. Put your guard down and be real with you , How do you really feel?

4. Are you ready to move on and step into your greater self?
