Bigger Than Masturbation

Discussing this topic triggers not only trigger the target market but the writers as well. According to research, about 67% of male teenagers and 43% of females masturbate almost on a daily. However, do they understand the hazards that come with that ?

As each one of us matures into the teenage phase known as puberty during our lifetime, our bodies begin to undergo some natural and yet significant changes. As educated in high school these are mainly physical changes that relate to our sexualities according to science. However, one of these changes that is so outstandingly avoided by masses is the phase whereby many people develop an interest in sexual pleasure and satisfaction through the excessive release of the sex hormones oestrogen and testosterone. This leads to an increased desire to explore their bodies sexually, which then results in the unpleasant act of masturbation among others. So, is masturbation a bad thing given that there are natural triggers behind it ?

Besides natural components, there are several other factors that contribute to the continual act of masturbation. One of the most contributing factors happens to be social media and search engines. This is unsurprising as many people are granted access to not only the social part, but the high explicit media it has to offer. It is completely impossible to spend a few minutes scrolling through social media without seeing a half naked human being. It is also saddening to see that these platforms have granted people access to posting such, and to see that it has become a norm is above and beyond dissatisfaction. They have not only granted access to the content creators to post such but to people of all age groups to view.

There are a couple of detriments associated with the act of masturbation, risks, to be precise. Socially, masturbation can pose negatively as it consumes the time that one would have rather spent being productive, or even that spent with others. This thereafter leads to feelings of low self esteem, feelings of guilt and utter regret with one's response to their surrounding environment, further impacting one's health mentally. Moreover, the topic of masturbation is one that is still yet to be accepted amongst peers as many may contest to admit to their actions in the deed when discussed, which also makes it even harder to combat. Among those who follow a particular faith, the act of masturbation may also be deemed as sinful and further lead to religious guilt and the feeling of being rejected by their spiritual or religious higher power. According to African traditional and cultural beliefs, the act of masturbation may even lead to the acquiring of a "dark spiritual partner" that only brings acts of misfortune or "bad luck" upon an individual's life.

However, science has also argued that masturbation may not always be bad as it has been considered "totally safe", according to their research. For others, it may even be a form of stress relief among other benefits. However, science again together with trained medical professionals has also proved that despite masturbation being considered totally safe it also affects the sex life of many individuals. For females it has been found that approximately 24% of those that masturbated at an early age find it hard to reach sexual pleasure when they are with their actual partner , which does not only affect their sex life but their relationship as a whole.

So, it is perhaps entirely up to the doer to decide whether or not to pursue this act, and also whether it benefits them more than it detriments them.

Therefore, apart from being a very controversial topic to discuss, it can be argued that the act of masturbation is indeed only another form of natural human behavior also opposed to by religious beliefs and social barriers.

As men and women we indeed have different ways too feel the pleasure of sexual intercourse and masturbation . The debate can go on and on, about the pleasures of masturbation e.g if you could ask a teenager and an adult about why do they masturbate ? Those would be two total different answers . Having knowledge about masturbation and the difference between it and sexual intercourse plays a part in the statistic being high in teenagers that masturbate more than adults . Because the honest truth is how often do we get taught about masturbation and the dangers of it at school/ home ? So having knowledge of it too would have lessened the problem .

I don't think masturbation has dangers or is a problem at all

I disagree with the section about women finding it hard to reach sexual pleasure due to masturbation. I think that due to women knowing their bodies and where their pleasure spots are, they know what their bodies want and desire. Their partners are not communicating with them to ensure that everyone is satisfied by the end of it. In woman-woman sexual relations, this has not shown to be a problem as both women understand their bodies and know how to reach full capacity of satisfaction.
